New Bark Town

The sister town to the infamous Pallet Town, New Bark Town is a small hamlet nestled against the Kanto border of Johto. The town has little industry beyond serving as the first place most travellers from kanto who opt not to take the rail system experience, with it's few businesses dedicated to providing services for travellers and the small resident population. The Elm Laboratories, run by Professor Elm, is by far the largest establishment in this otherwise tiny town, serving as a pokemon storage and research facility for most of Johto's trainers. Professor Elm has reinvested in the infrastructure of his town, and as such the few homes that remain in the area are in perfect condition, boasting a fine mixture of ancient wooden pillars and modernized concrete and steel surfaces.

Cherrygrove City

This small Oceanside village exploits both it's vast green fields and it's landlocked lagoon with it's expansive breeding facilities, serving as the largest breeder establishment in Johto. Here, several large breeding companies compete to produce the finest pokemon they can for the Cainwood Safari Zone as well as private collectors, elite pokemon trainers and the Pokemon coordinator circuit. Due to the exotic pokemon being raised in the district, the houses are reinforced to deal with any potential problems they might face, including stampedes and fire. As such, the houses are made from a mixture of steel and synthetic polymers that are designed to resist severe force and elemental conditions, giving the city a distinct appearance of sterility, with almost every surface being a glistening white.

Cianwood City

Serving as the only human settlement on Cainwood Island, Cainwood City is a almost completely self contained colony. Being seeded on the shore, it survives almost exclusively by fishing, with a few small farms and trade ships providing the other essential resources for such a large city. Cainwood City boasts two major attractions, being both the home of a pokemon gym and the gateway to the Johto region Safari Zone. The Cainwood City Gym is the fifth stop on the Johto league gym circuit, and specializes in fighting pokemon. Originally the trainers that work at the gym and their fighting pokemon were contracted to help contain the wildlife while Cainwood City was being built, as at one point the land where the City sits was part of the Safari zone itself. The Johto Safari zone consumes almost all of the island's landmass. It was initially an island that lacked any form of predator pokemon, allowing rare, vulnerable pokemon to flourish. Since that time, some of the rarer predator pokemon have been introduced, turning the island into a paradise for Pokemon Trainers seeking rare, powerful pokemon to add to their parties.

Mahogany Town

The Seventh stop in the Johto Pokemon League, Mahogany town is a small village established on the shores of the Lake of Rage. The residents here are almost exclusively pokemon farmers; they spend their days capturing pokemon from Route Forty Three and Forty Four, the Ice Cave and from the Lake of Rate itself, then selling them to collectors, breeders and trainers. The Town's gym specializes exclusively in Ice Type pokemon which it harvests from the nearby Ice Caves.

Blackthorn City

The last stop in the Johto Pokemon League before the Indigo Plateau itself, Blackthorn City is an ancient town nestled into the northwest face of Blackthorn Mountain, a small peak connected directly to Mount Silver itself. Like Mount Silver, Blackthorn Mountain houses many unique pokemon, but unlike the more diverse Mount Silver, Blackthorn Mountain pokemon are all dragon type. Because of this, the tiny city is populated exclusively by Dragon Tamers, who spend their days capturing and training with the dragon population of Blackthorn Mountain. As you would expect because of this, Blackthorn City Gym specializes in dragon type pokemon. The residents of Blackthorn City live in re-purposed caves, with almost every part of the house being smoothed and polished mountain rock. The cave entrances are sealed with thick stone walls reinforced with steel to keep out the fierce dragons that roam the area.

Mount Silver

This colossal mountain is the highest point in both Johto and Kanto, crossing the border of both nations due to it's enormous stature. In the past, the immensely powerful pokemon from Mount Silver would rampage across the surrounding land, leaving large sections of Kanto's west and Johto's east uninhabitable. It was due to this that the Kanto and Johto Pokemon leagues established the Indigo Plateau inside the shadow of the mountain, as the constant inflow of pokemon masters helped control the havok wrought by the pokemon of the mountain. Recently however, the pokemon that live on and inside Mount Silver rarely venture out of it's shadow, forcing trainers who desire an encounter with them to travel inside the mountain itself. It is said that this is because Red, the first pokemon Trainer to defeat every pokemon league has established a home inside the mountain where he helps control it's population of immensely powerful pokemon for the good of his home. Mount Silver holds a prominent part in the myth of both Kanto and Johto, with numerous individuals claiming to have sighted legendary pokemon on or near the mountain, with accounts of such sightings dating back hundreds of years.
