| Understandably, many roleplayers want to have a legendary pokemon. Well, the good news is, any trainer can have Legendary Pokemon. The bad news is, they aren't easy to get. There are some requirements you have to meet to be considered for a legendary pokemon:
- Have an approved trainer for at least two months.
- Have at least one pokemon leveled sixty or higher
- Have at least four gym badges
If you meet these requirements, you are eligible for a legendary pokemon. Legendary pokemon are organized into two lists: Minor Legendaries and Major Legendaries. While they can all be caught using the same methods, Major Legendaries have higher requirements than Minor Legendaries. The only unobtainable legendary is Arceus, due to his divine nature. Note that any legendary pokemon you do capture will NOT be the original, but will simply be a child of the original. Due to this, unique powers like time/space manipulation or control of the tides and the sky will be severely weakened to the point of being useless. For example, while the original Dialga can manipulate time at a whim, It's children, the ones you capture, would only be able to effect time to 1/500th of a second, making it's powers of time manipulation almost non-existent and lacking any practical use. This doesn't stop you from using these powers in a personal plot, like saying, speaking to a dead parent, but it stops you from using them in any form of combat or form that would effect anything other than personal plot development. - Minor Legendaries:
- Articuno
- Zapdos
- Moltres
- Raikou
- Entei
- Suicune
- Regice
- Registeel
- Regirock
- Latias
- Latios
- Jirachi
- Azelf
- Mespirit
- Uxie
- Cresselia
- Darkrai
- Manaphy
- Phione
- Heatran
- Victini
- Cobalion
- Terrakion
- Virizion
- Keldeo
- Landorus
- Thundurus
- Tornadus
- Meloetta
- Genesect
- Major Legendaries:
- Mew
- Mewtwo
- Lugia
- Ho-Oh
- Celebi
- Groudon
- Kyogre
- Rayquaza
- Deoxys
- Dialga
- Palkia
- Giratina
- Regigigias
- Shaymin
- Zekrom
- Reshiram
- Kyurem
- Xerneas
- Yveltal
There are two ways to acquire legendary pokemon: The solo method, and the Guided Method. Click the spoilers for detailed information on how each method works and how to go about performing them. - The Solo Method:
The solo method is simple: You write a post about going on a quest to find and capture the legendary pokemon of your choice. This post will be judged, not only by it's word count, but by the quality of the writing and of the narrative you have crafted. If the staff member judging it doesn't feel you made it sufficiently detailed, or if they felt you wrote certain aspects poorly [eg almost no challenge in finding the legendary, or capturing it effortlessly] they will insist you rectify these issues.
Word Count requirements: [yes, these are effected by the pokeball used]
Minor Legendary: 10000 words
Major Legendary: 20000 words
The word count requirements will increase by 2500 for each Legendary captured using this method.
- The Guided Method:
The Guided Method is, unlike the previous method, an activity which is managed by a high ranking member of staff. In the Guided Method, the staff member will take you on a journey to hunt down and capture the legendary pokemon of your choice. Along the way, the staff member will present you with puzzles and battles you'll have to overcome before finally encountering your quarry. Unlike the Solo method, it is possible to fail the guided method. If you cannot solve the challenges presented, or if the staff member feels that you are not putting out the quality required, they will terminate the challenge by having the legendary pokemon leave or simply by having an impassable obstacle block your progress such as a door you cannot open due to failing a puzzle. To apply for the Guided Method, simply PM a global moderator, Administrator or Founder.
Some tips for surviving the Guided Method:
Make each post as high quality as possible. Take the time to ensure your descriptions are high quality and your actions are fair and balanced. If the staff member presents you with a high level pokemon to fight for example, don't simply crush it, or you will be seen as not taking it seriously. This is meant to be challenging, treat it as such.
Be aware that if you choose a major legendary, the challenges you are presented with are going to be notably harder than if you chose a minor legendary.
You may be forced to face multiple challenges without being given the opportunity to use a pokemon centre or visit a non-hostile area to recover. Plan accordingly by bringing plenty restorative items. Buying them mid-journey won't work, as you can only use items you had at the start of the challenge.
When you finally reach the legendary pokemon it will work like fighting another player character, with the staff member controlling the legendary pokemon. As it is a legendary, the staff member has every right to auto hit you for any reason. However, they are less likely to do this if your attempt to avoid or block an attack is logically sound, well explained and well reasoned. Take the time to think about what you're writing. Play the fight out in your head and make sure you're describing the response you're envisioning properly. Just because it makes sense to you doesn't mean it makes sense to everyone, so be sure to use lots of detail when describing your actions.
Although the word count reduction isn't present as this isn't a regular solo encounter, using higher level poke-balls will help you. No staff member will let you capture Mewtwo with a regular pokeball under any circumstances.
This means that for your Third legendary, you will need to have been approved for four months and have eight gym badges. If you reach the maximum amount of gym badges obtainable, that simply means you have reached the limit of the number of legendary pokemon you are able to possess with this character, legendary pokemon are rare and many trainers go their whole lives without seeing one. You cannot have more than two legendaries in your party at the same time. This means you cannot have a team of nothing but legendaries. | |
